A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds

March 7th, 2008

You have to give it to Al Hogan. He is a man of consistency. While the Telegraph-Journal is running thoughtful stories today on the upcoming provincial budget, Al is leading with:

Will N.B. get a tax break?

Why don’t we just stop government spending altogether so Al can pay for the gas for his Hummer and buy a bigger mirror?

On a sadder note, from the CBC:

New Brunswick Human Resources Minister Wally Stiles has suffered a heart attack. Marc Belliveau, spokesman for the Human Resources Department, says Stiles suffered a heart attack on Monday while vacationing in the southern United States.

We’ll hope that Wally gets better soon and that the Leg has good travel health insurance for its Members. Getting seriously sick in the U.S. could cost $100k or more these days.

I agree with the sentiments on Wally.
As far as the Irving newspapers are concerned what do they want from us with regard to tax cuts, handouts and free land? There is nothing substantial coming back from them the other way and when something new is touted for the province that could attract something real they jump all over it and run it out of the province.
Maybe Wally would be better off staying where he is. Okay, he might have a huge medical bill but at least he would be living in a community that is open minded and fair to everyone instead of being totally slanted towards one family business (or two)
