The Chattanooga Vroom Vroom

According to the Andrews Sisters, Chattanooga has always been about trains. Now it will be about cars. VW is putting a $944 million plant there that will employ 2,000 people. No word in this article about the size of the incentive deal but considering Michigan was in the hunt, one would expect it to be big. If you know the deal size, send over a link. My guess would be in the $250 million range.

They haven’t released figures, but the incentives include the usual. Next door in Alabama they weren’t so lucky and there are postings that claim they were offering $200 million, or one fifth the plant cost. There were a couple of blogs which stated that Tennessee was offering TWICE that, but that’s all hearsay (though who would be surprised?)
