Another one bites the dust

I just got an email from a guy who is leaving NB. A sharp chap. Not a new story. Just started reading the Jacques Poitras’ Beaverbrook piece and early on he talks about a bunch of expat NBers that moved away to make their fortunes (including Mr. Aitken). Stubborn trend that whole out-migration bit.

I’ll have more to say about Poitras’ book after I get it done. Fascinating piece, though. I often wonder why we don’t get more NB history in school. Without an appreciation of our past, it’s hard to frame up a proper future.

You answered your own question. Ignorance is bliss. WIthout an appreciation of why things are the way they are, there is little chance that people will see what could be.
