You may recall a blog I wrote last year slamming the Northern Mayors in New Brunswick. I was particulary cranky on that day because I read a story that the Northern Mayors were banding together to demand the protection of their health care facilities. United we stand, divided we fall, they said. At the time I said, and I still believe, that the Mayors getting together to lobby to protect health care facilities is wrong headed.
If the population continues to decline it is only natural that health care services will contract and consolidate. If the Northern Mayors’ strategy is desperately hang on – I don’t believe they are serving their constituents well.
Now, I read today in the TJ that the the Mayor of the Miramichi wants to band with the other northern Mayors to develop a common approach for economic development.
That, my friends, makes much more sense.
