Sigh

Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest videogame publishers, announces a new phase of development for its operations in Quebec, Canada. The company, which currently boasts more than 1,600 team members in the province, could invest up to an additional 454.1 million Canadian dollars over the next six years with the goal of building up a team of 3 000 employees by 2013.

The provincial and Federal goverments are putting in $27 million.

You will be happy to know that Ubisoft has been aggressively recruiting kids graduating from the animation program at NBCC- Miramichi.

Hey, it’s better than Alberta. At least they can drive home once in a while.

Just for a moment, imagine, the story if NB would pitch-in 1/3 and create a remote studio in Miramichi, why not?

Now another 50 deals like this before 2008 and I would praise the self-sufficiency plan.
